Position: Cook 3 Hourly, Full-Time/Second-Shift (eligible for shift and weekend differential, if applicable)

Wage: $21.00/Hour (Negotiable)

Location: Resort Division Nonexempt/Full-time Location: Gaming Division Reports to: Sous Chef

Possible Gaming License Requirement: A gaming license is required in this role if the employee reaches a salary threshold of $50,000/year.

Responsibilities
  • Gain comprehensive knowledge of food preparation across various kitchen environments.
  • Successfully complete Culinary Academy training within one year of employment.
  • Uphold stringent standards of personal hygiene and sanitation.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and well-stocked work area.
  • Perform duties proficiently across all kitchen positions, aiding chef as required.
  • Execute opening and closing duties and assigned side work.
  • Aid in training and supervising department team members.
  • Volunteer assistance to colleagues as needed.
  • Safely operate and maintain all department equipment.
  • Foster courteous and helpful relationships with guests.
  • Execute duties swiftly and efficiently.
  • Ensure cleanliness of coolers, freezers, and storage areas.
  • Assist in inventory storage and rotation.
  • Possess thorough knowledge of facility layout and amenities to assist guests effectively.
  • Understand and align with organizational goals and vision.
  • Participate in scheduled training and evaluations.
  • Flexibility to work at other venues based on business needs.
  • Adherence to all workplace policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Adaptability to changing duties as required by departmental needs.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
Qualifications & Education
  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Associate degree in culinary arts preferred, or minimum 3-5 years' experience in a high-volume establishment.
  • Obtain Serve Safe Managers certification within three months.
  • Advanced knowledge of fryers, grilling, and oven use.
  • Proficiency in advanced knife skills and culinary techniques.
  • In-depth product knowledge and cooking expertise.
  • Understanding and execution of job assignments.
  • Ability to create, cost, understand, and follow recipes accurately.
  • Capability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain positive attitude and foster teamwork.
  • Effective communication skills with colleagues and management.
  • Meet all employment qualifications set by North Star Mohican Casino Resort.
  • Pass pre-employment drug and health screenings.
  • Maintain acceptable attendance record.
  • Promote a positive teamwork structure within the department.
  • Adaptability to work with diverse personalities and embrace change.
  • Willingness to attend all training sessions and commit to self-development.
  • Adherence to Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace Policy.
  • Reliable and punctual attendance.
  • Wear an approved departmental uniform.
  • Availability for weekend, late night, and holiday shifts.
Work Conditions
  • Frequent standing, walking, talking, and hearing required.
  • Frequent use of hands for handling, feeling, reaching, and grasping.
  • Occasional stooping, kneeling, and/or crouching may be necessary.
  • Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to thirty (30) pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, and depth perception.
  • Evening and/or weekend work may be necessary, with extended hours and irregular shifts possible.
  • Excellent personal hygiene is required due to working near others.
  • The work environment is non-smoking; dust and noise levels may vary depending on location and work area.
