Title: Controls Technician - Industrial Automation
Type: Permanent / Direct-Hire
Location: Garland, TX
Scope: Manage high-speed manufacturing and packaging lines with a focus on automation, PLC, and HMI programming and troubleshooting.
Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot existing PLC programs and HMI systems on four production lines.
- Collaborate with Controls Engineers and Process Engineers to implement improvements on existing lines.
- Provide instruction and guidance to less experienced technical employees.
- Assist in designing control systems, including I/O and Motor Lists, P&ID diagrams, etc.
- Develop Functional Requirements Specification (FRS) documents, including corresponding Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and Site Acceptance Test (SAT) plans.
- Perform on-site startup, commissioning, validation, and support.
- Apply technical expertise during project execution.
- Identify changes in project scope and promptly notify the Project/Engineering Manager.
- Develop solutions for technical challenges, customer demands, scope changes, and complaints.
- Contribute broad technical expertise to the team while demonstrating strong communication, correspondence, and mediation skills.
- Assist in managing project resources, schedules, budgets, and scope.
- Provide input and resolve issues during the Estimating and Fabrication processes.
- Manage and develop project deliverables independently or within a team.
- Perform any additional duties assigned by the Manager related to the role.
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent automation experience.
Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in Industrial Automation.
Specific Knowledge:
- OSHA regulations
- PLC/HMI Systems:
- RS Studio 5000 / ControlLogix.
- Wonderware InTouch & ArchestrA System Platform.
- Inductive Automation Ignition.
- FactoryTalk ME / PanelView & SE.
- Drives/VFDs:
- PowerFlex and Kinetix Servo Drives.
- Networks:
- Ethernet, DLR, CISCO Switches.
