Motherson Yachiyo AY Manufacturing, Ltd., a Tier 1 sunroof supplier to the automotive industry, is searching for an experienced Controls/Automation Engineer at our Westside Columbus Ohio facility.


General Purpose of the Job:

This is an Engineering role with team approach to continuous improvement. You will work with management, production staff, maintenance technicians, quality engineers, manufacturing engineers, and others to optimize current equipment and to assist in development of new equipment.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and design PLC, HMI, Robotics programming and Controls Circuits for new automation/ equipment changes
  • Coordinate with Production and Maintenance to identify requirements for process controls, develop control strategies and implement.
  • Perform and lead testing of new processes and equipment changes. Support the transfer of new equipment to production/maintenance.
  • Develop and maintain detailed engineering documentation including calibration, preventative maintenance and additional procedures in support of equipment installed.
  • Identify equipment improvement opportunities in safety, quality and efficiency
  • Research new technologies and procedures relative to automation and controls that could be utilized to improve equipment and processes. Analyze, compare and select equipment/technology best suited for various applications.
  • Assist Maintenance team with advanced troubleshooting procedures by provide technical guidance to perform repairs, design changes, or other corrections. Provide emergency downtime support as needed.
  • Coordinate project work across multiple departments to ensure on-time completion of projects within budget.
  • Support mistake proofing activities in Mass Production to prevent repeat issues. Assist with development of quality poke-yoke systems

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in ME, EE or similar degree with 1+ years' experience in manufacturing controls preferred.
  • PLC programming and troubleshooting of Mitsubishi, or other Programmable Logic Controllers preferred experience with PC, and other systems will be considered.
  • Program/Troubleshoot Robot Interfaces (Yaskawa, Universal Robots) preferred
  • Controls networking such as EtherNetI/P, DeviceNet, Profibus, ProfiNet, etc
  • Understanding of electrical diagrams, control diagrams
  • AutoCAD and/or Solid Works, Project Management experience a plus
  • Ability to work on occasion off-shifts and weekends
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word),
  • Great Documentation and Organizational Skills required.
