Controller

We're seeking a qualified candidate for controller at York University. The ideal candidate will have experience as an accountant. Candidate needs to be a strong communicator and to be a skilled financial analyst. This person will be assisting with our budgeting, payroll, and financial reporting processes. Responsibilities: Accounting operations: Overseeing the day-to-day accounting functions, including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations Financial reporting: Preparing and managing financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing cycles Budgeting: Assisting the budget process Financial analysis: Conducting financial analysis, interpreting financial data, and identifying trends Human resources: Answering employee benefit questions, managing employee files, and assisting with hiring and training Required skills and qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher in accounting Five or more years of professional accounting experience Great skills with computers and spreadsheets Strong understanding of banking processes and financial data analysis Experience in managing payroll Exemplary history of financial accounting technical knowledge Preferred skills and qualifications: Master's degree in accounting Five or more years of experience as a senior-level accountant Professional certification, such as CPA (certified public accountant) preferred Send Resume and cover letter to: Todd Sheldon, Vice President for Finance Posted: 10/16/24
