Position Summary: The Controller is responsible for leading the accounting team while overseeing the day-to-day accounting operations and financial reporting, budgets, and forecasts. Additionally, this position will develop and ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, internal controls, and financial systems (ERP).
Position: Hybrid Work Schedule - Tuesday through Thursday in Office at The Center, Yakima, WA
Primary Responsibilities: 70% - Operations- Oversee daily operations of the accounting department.
- Manage all interfaces to the general ledger, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, inventory, production, purchasing and sales, ensuring compliance with GAAP standards and other regulatory requirements.
- Manage the monthly closing process.
- Supervise financial operations of foreign and U.S. subsidiary operations (including cash management, audit and compliance).
- Ensure proper costing and inventory valuation.
- Manage customer credit.
- Manage ongoing operational analyses (manufacturing, sales margins, financial inventory impact, budget variances, cost accounting, etc.)
- Timely and accurate financial reporting to include monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for management, banks and external auditors.
- Assist with year-end tax return.
- Lead annual external audit (July) and bank collateral audit (January).
- Assist with banking relationships and cash management.
- Assist with maintenance and effective use of the ERP system.
- Timely submission of all federal, state and local tax filings.
- Assist with risk management. (Insurance)
25% - Planning- Develop and ensure compliance of accounting policies, procedures and internal controls.
- Assist with preparation of consolidated annual budgets and analysis.
- Assist with preparation of long-term forecasts (5 year), including impact of positions, sales, etc.
- Proactively seek continuous improvement opportunities including process improvement and cost saving opportunities.
- Coordinate with BarthHaas Group counterparts to improve operations, share best practices, etc.
Conditions of Employment:1. Work a 40+ hour work week. May work more than 8 hours a day and/or on weekends as needs arise.
2. Regular local travel (between facilities) required. Must possess a valid driver's license for this.
3. Must comply with our Integrated Management System (IMS) and be trained on procedures applicable to the requirements of the position, including managing significant quality, environmental, and food safety aspects.
4. Must comply with all John I. Haas, Inc. policies and procedures including successful passing of a pre-employment drug test and background check.
Qualifications:Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field and relevant work experience with progressive responsibilities and success as a manager.
- Experience adhering to matters of confidentiality.
- Experience successfully achieving work objectives with little direct oversight; must be self-motivated.
- Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, and analytical/problem-solving skills
- Thorough knowledge of financial and legal best practices and requirements with a proven ability to provide sound and ethical financial counsel to executive leadership.
- Experience with ERP Systems (preferably Microsoft Dynamics)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and related software
Preferred:
- CPA
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics
- Experience in the agriculture industry, taxes, cash management, manufacturing and/or international operations
Pay: $102,400 to $153,600 per year with a target starting salary of $102,400 to $128,000. Please keep in mind this range represents the range for all positions in the pay grade within which this position falls. The actual salary offer will take into account a wide range of factors, including experience and if applicable, location.
