Blackledge Financial Services, LLC is seeking a highly skilled Controller for a client, a successful and privately held professional services firm based in Washington, DC. This is a full-time W-2 opportunity.
Position Overview
Reporting to the CFO, the Controller will be the professional in the Accounting Department and occupy a key position. The successful candidate will have a high degree of interaction and visibility with the senior line management. The Company is of a size where the incumbent will have a high degree of autonomy and an opportunity to utilize business acumen, creativity and drive to make decisions and implement ideas directly impacting the Company's bottom-line.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- With the CFO, designs an appropriate accounting organization structure and staff development plan
- Establishes accounting policies and procedures
- Own the monthly financial close cycle
- Works with the CFO and line management to design useful reporting formats and metrics to assist in the efficient management of the business
- Manages the customer billing function and monitors collection of receivables
- Leads, manages, and mentors accounting staff
- Ensures compliance with regulatory reporting requirements, including federal, state and local tax reporting requirements
- Serves as the primary liaison with external auditors
- Assists the CFO with preparation of the annual budget
- Works with CFO and line management to ensure timely and responsive management reporting is accomplished
- Prepares budget variance and operating analyses
- Supports the CFO with financial analysis and forecasting
- Oversees cash management and cash forecasting activities
- Consults and advises on financial, accounting, compliance, and risk management issues
- Ensures that excellent service is provided to employees and independent contractors in the areas of payroll, consulting fee payment, and expense reimbursement
- Assists line management in devising and meeting unique billing and reporting requirements of major customer contractual relationships
- Ensures that appropriate monthly, quarterly and annual account reconciliations are maintained
- Works with the CFO to establish and maintain effective banking relationships and treasury management processes
- Assists line management with client pricing strategies
Qualifications
Education/Certification:
- Bachelors degree in accounting with solid GPA
- CPA credential required
Experience Required:
- 5+ years professional accounting experience required
- At least 3 years experience with a national or large regional accounting firm
- Some knowledge of Federal, State and Local tax reporting requirements

Compensation
- Competitive salary ranging from $160,000 to $180,000
