Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA
- 10+ yrs of accounting experience in a government contracting environment (Experience with firm fixed price, time and materials, and cost-type contracts.)
- 5+ yrs of Deltek Costpoint (project-related and sales order-related workflows. This would include a detailed understanding of the materials modules within Costpoint.)
- 5 days a week in office, times are flexible
- Excellent spreadsheet skills
- Strong attention to detail; sharp and critical eye in identifying errors and mistakes; ability to analyze in multiple dimensions to provide sufficient cross-checking of work product.
- Proficient with data analysis, critical thinking and problem-solving
- Able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- Knowledge of both Value-Added Resellers (VAR) and program-type work preferred
- Ability to lead and be the key point of contact with the Company's external auditors.
- Expert-level knowledge of accounting and financial principles, regulations, and best practices.
- Demonstrate excellent prioritizing skills and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic and busy environment.
- Expected to work closely with other department groups in addressing problem areas.
- Assures effective communications are maintained within areas of responsibility.
Job Description
The Controller will support the CFO with the day-to-day activities within the Accounting Department. This position plans and directs the functions of general and cost accounting, payroll, financial planning and analysis activities.
Essential Responsibilities:
• Directly supervise the Accounting Manager and the Accounting Department as a whole.
• Oversee and assist with the payroll function.
• Work with Contracts Administration and Program Management Office on regular program matters, including calls with the government, participation in ECP reviews and other program-related matters.
• Implement and maintain consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures across all company operations. Re-develop and organize company policies and procedures as directed.
• Oversee the month-end close process to ensure timely production of the company's financial statements.
• Enforce internal controls to maximize protection of company assets, policies, procedures and workflows.
• Design and maintain the Accounting department records archiving and retention system to ensure good organization of documents.
• Assist with company budgeting and forecasting activities as assigned.
• Assist with cash flow management as assigned.
• Coordinate and respond to external auditor requests as assigned.
• Interview and hire staff as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
