Summary


Estes Energetics is seeking a controller to join the leadership team. The perfect candidate is dynamic, learns quickly, and can operate independently at an executive level. This person will lead all financial functions as well as take on other leadership responsibilities. This person will have significant influence on the strategic direction of the company and will be the first financial leader in the company.


Essential Functions

  • Model the company values.
  • Perform financial planning, analysis, and reporting.
  • Manage financial, management, and tax accounting in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Coordinate preparation of annual and other federal, state, and local tax returns by external tax accountants.
  • Coordinate independent financial audits and valuations.
  • Prepare cost proposals and manage Government and commercial contracts.
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Manage and improve business systems and processes (ERP, accounting, inventory, etc.).
  • Oversee purchasing.

Competencies, Experience, and Education


Required

  • Strong communication skills in written, verbal, and presentation form
  • Strong negotiation skills with suppliers, customers, and other stakeholders
  • Five years of experience in financial functions
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong computer skills
  • Ability to administer computer systems, such as ERP, accounting, and inventory management system
  • Ability to implement business automation solutions

Desired

  • Leadership experience
  • Five years of experience working for a Government contractor
  • Certified public accountant

Work Environment

The work will primarily be in an office environment with some work in a manufacturing environment.

Physical Demands

  • Sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Occasional movement through a manufacturing environment.
  • Use of personal protective equipment appropriate to the work location.

Travel

5-15% travel to company sites.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Employees are expected to work at least 40 hours each week to maintain full-time status.

Work Authorization

Must be a US citizen or national, a lawful permanent resident, or a protected individual as defined in 8 USC 1324b. Ability to pass a background check and drug test per federal and state explosives licensing requirements. Prior Department of Defense security clearance a plus.
