Position Summary:
The Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial activities, including accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls for Harper Brothers Construction. This role ensures the integrity of the company's financial records, manages accounting staff, and plays a key role in financial decision making.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
- Financial Reporting & Analysis: Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports. Analyze financial data to provide strategic insights and recommendations to senior management.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the budgeting process, working closely with department heads to ensure financial goals align with company strategy. Prepare regular forecasts to track financial performance and assist in decision-making.
- Internal Controls & Compliance: Implement and maintain robust internal controls to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and financial reporting standards.
- Team Management: Supervise and mentor the accounting team, including senior accountants and staff, ensuring efficient and accurate financial operations. Provide training and support to help team members grow professionally.
- Cash Flow Management: Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure the company has sufficient funds for operational needs. Optimize working capital and manage banking relationships.
- Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate accounting processes and systems, implementing improvements that increase efficiency, reduce errors, and streamline operations.
Qualifications:
- CPA licensed or applicants actively pursuing certification will be considered.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Must have experience with WIP (work in progress).
- Prior experience working with multiple entities operating in different States.
- At least 8-10 years of accounting experience in construction or a related industry.
- Viewpoint Construction Software
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and budgeting.
- Leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
