Position Overview:

The Controller will oversee the day-to-day accounting functions, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and provide strategic financial insights to senior leadership. This position is ideal for a proactive, analytical professional with a deep understanding of accounting principles and experience in the financial services industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the daily operations of the accounting department, including general ledger maintenance, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and industry-specific regulations.
  • Develop and implement internal controls and financial policies to safeguard company assets and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes, including reconciliations and financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights that support business decision-making.
  • Manage audits and liaise with external auditors, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of information.
  • Mentor and develop a team of accounting professionals, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Analyze financial data, identify trends, and provide strategic recommendations to optimize financial performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local tax regulations.
  • Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a management or supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience in the financial services industry is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or equivalent) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
