CGRC's Controller plays a pivotal role in overseeing the financial operations of the organization, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in financial reporting and management. This role requires a combination of strategic thinking, technical expertise, and strong leadership to effectively manage financial resources and contribute to the overall success of the organization.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze financial statements, including statement of operations and activities, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and other financial reports. Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and regulatory requirements.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop annual budgets and financial forecasts in collaboration with senior management. Monitor financial performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying variances and recommending corrective actions as needed.
  • Internal Controls: Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard the organization's assets and ensure the integrity of financial transactions. Conduct periodic reviews to identify and mitigate risks. Staff training and segregation of duties of the accounting staff are key to adequate internal control systems.
  • Treasury Management: Forecast and manage cash flow, liquidity, and investments to optimize returns while maintaining sufficient funds for operational needs. Monitor banking relationships and oversee debt financing activities.
  • Tax Planning and Compliance: Coordinate with external tax advisors to develop tax strategies and ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations. Prepare and file tax returns, including the annual 990 return and other applicable taxes.
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making and strategic planning initiatives. Evaluate investment opportunities, cost-saving measures, and business performance metrics.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the finance team, providing guidance and support to ensure professional development and effective performance. Foster a collaborative and results-driven culture within the department.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Communicate financial results, forecasts, and strategic insights to senior management, and other stakeholders. Present financial information in a clear and concise manner, facilitating informed decision-making.
  • Oversee and direct performance of Accounting & Billing teams.
