JOB SUMMARY: We are seeking a detailed-oriented, results-driven, and pro-active Controller to join our fast-growing scalp and hair health brand. The highly skilled and analytical Controller will oversee all accounting operations including financial reporting. This individual will play a critical role in maintaining the financial integrity of the business, ensuring GAAP-compliance, and supporting strategic decision-making across the organization. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in consumer product accounting and a passion for the beauty and personal care industry.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Financial Controlling, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred)
- Minimum of 7 years of bookkeeping experience, with at least 4 years in a consumer product environment, preferably within the beauty or personal care industry
- Proven experience managing financials, including inventory costing and accounting and multi-channel sales reconciliation and reporting
- Experience overseeing sales tax requirements and filings
- Advanced knowledge of financial reporting for an omni-channel, consumer product company
- Expertise with accounting software (Netsuite preferred) and proficiency in MS Excel
- Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls and other financial regulations specific to the beauty industry
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex financial data to non-financial stakeholders
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment while managing multiple priorities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Bookkeeping and Accounting: Maintain all accounting records and accounting for ongoing daily transactions, including overseeing accounts payable. Manage month end close process and reporting timeline. This role requires hands-on preparation of the majority of the month end close reconciliations and review.
- Financial Reporting & Analysis: Lead the preparation of accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and MD&A used for internal and external reporting, ensuring compliance with GAAP. Provide detailed financial analysis, highlighting key trends and insights to guide business strategy.
- Cost Management & Inventory Control: Oversee the accounting for inventory and cost of goods sold (COGS). Collaborate with supply chain and operations teams to reconcile and track inventory movements and costing.
- Internal Controls & Compliance: Establish and maintain robust internal controls to ensure the integrity of financial data and compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements. Oversee audits and ensure adherence to tax and accounting regulations.
- System Optimization: Work to improve financial systems, tools, and processes to streamline operations, improve accuracy, and enhance reporting capabilities. Lead system upgrades and integrations as needed.
