About the Opportunity
Looking for your next high-impact leadership role in a fast-evolving, global industry? This is a unique chance to join a mission-driven company at the center of the clean energy transition. Our client, a vertically integrated player in the lithium and battery materials supply chain, is scaling operations across North America and integrating globally with a growing presence in Canada and Australia.
With a pending international merger and a renewed focus on operational excellence, the company is seeking a North America Controller to lead U.S. accounting operations, support cross-border coordination, and help build scalable financial infrastructure in a complex and rapidly expanding business.
Why This Role Stands Out
- Global Footprint, Local Impact: Belmont, NC, is the strategic North American hub-not a satellite office. You'll have visibility and influence as part of a lean, empowered team.
- Strategic Growth Moment: Join during a pivotal merger phase and help shape the future of the finance organization across multiple geographies.
- Equity & Upside Potential: Long-term incentive plans are in development. Join early and help grow the North America business while potentially sharing in that growth.
What You'll Do
- Lead day-to-day accounting functions for U.S. operations, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and timeliness of financial statements.
- Own the month-end close process and support reporting across North American entities.
- Collaborate closely with Canadian operational finance and Australian corporate teams to harmonize global accounting policies.
- Partner with the North America CFO and Director of Accounting to scale systems, internal controls, and processes as the business evolves.
- Serve as a cultural leader and collaborator across a growing, high-impact finance team.
- Coordinate with external auditors and support the audit process.
- Provide guidance and oversight to AP, payroll, and external consultants.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred.
- 7-10+ years of experience in a blend of public accounting and industry roles.
- Operational accounting expertise with a strong foundation in GAAP.
- Experience supporting manufacturing, natural resources, or industrial operations is a plus.
- Proven ability to build, scale, and lead accounting functions in high-growth environments.
- A collaborative leadership style and strong communication skills.
- Ability to work onsite 4 days per week in Belmont, NC.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in dynamic environments, brings a mix of strategic insight and hands-on leadership, and is excited to help shape a future-forward organization at the crossroads of clean energy, operations, and innovation.
