The Impact You Will Have:


Liberty Home Guard is the country's fastest-growing and best-rated home warranty provider. We are looking for an experienced Controller who will be responsible for overseeing and managing the company's financial data and compliance by maintaining accurate books on accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and daily financial entries and reconciliations. This role will report directly into the CoCEOs of the company and will be the first hire in the company's in-house Accounting and Finance Departments. As the initial hire for this in-house accounting and finance departments, you will help the CoCEOs build the department from the ground up.

The Controller will perform daily accounting tasks such as monthly reporting, general ledger entries, and record payments and adjustments. They will also work closely with company CPAs to ensure the financial records are accurate.

The ideal candidate will be competent in prioritizing and working with little supervision. You will be self-motivated and trustworthy.


Your duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:


  • Help the CoCEO's develop and build an in-house accounting and finance department
  • Developing improved financial technology and data practices
  • Maintain records of financial transactions by establishing accounts; posting transactions; ensure legal requirements compliance.
  • Develop systems to account for financial transactions by establishing a chart of accounts; defining bookkeeping policies and procedures.
  • Maintain subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, and posting transactions.
  • Maintains general ledger by transferring subsidiary account summaries.
  • Balances general ledger by preparing a trial balance; reconciling entries.
  • Prepares financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

As you grow and prove your capabilities in this role, your responsibilities may evolve to include.

  • As the company operates as a financial institution, there is an investment management component to our financial operations. As such aiding with the investment management of the company's Investment Accounts is a natural evolution of this role.
  • Help Company Leadership develop and execute upon the company's financial strategy.
  • Helping to hire other members to join the Accounting and Finance department.
  • Financial forecasting and financial planning and analysis.


What You'll Bring to the Team:


  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, quickly changing environment
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Knowledge of IFRS, U.S. GAAP, or another accounting framework
  • Experience in auditing or tax preparation is required
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
  • 5+ years of previous audit experience
  • 5-12 years of experience in finance/accounting

Salary: $130,000 - $180,000 annually
