About the Opportunity

We're partnering with a well-established company seeking a Controller to lead and refine its accounting operations, with an emphasis on owning the monthly close process, maintaining compliance, and supporting financial leadership with timely, accurate reporting. This is a high-visibility role suited for someone who thrives in a hands-on environment, values precision, and enjoys working cross-functionally with finance, project teams, and leadership.


Key Responsibilities

  • Own and manage the monthly close process from start to finish, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
  • Oversee preparation of trial balances, general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, and journal entries
  • Maintain and improve a detailed month-end close checklist, assigning responsibilities and ensuring accountability
  • Manage cash, payroll, AP/AR, prepaid and accruals, and fixed asset entries with accuracy and consistency
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to gather close-related data and improve close cycle efficiency
  • Prepare internal financial reports and support annual audit processes
  • Identify opportunities to automate and streamline accounting workflows and controls
  • Supervise a small accounting team and provide mentorship on GAAP compliance and internal processes

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred)
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership of month-end close in a project-based or construction environment
  • Deep understanding of GAAP and financial compliance
  • Experience managing internal controls and audit preparation
  • Strong proficiency with Excel; experience with accounting platforms such as Viewpoint Vista
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Comfortable operating in both strategic and tactical accounting roles
