Job Title: Financial Controller (Construction) - Hybrid Opportunity

Salary: $115,000 - $140,000 DOE

Are you an experienced construction accounting professional ready to take full ownership of a company's financial operations? We're partnering with a long-established general contracting and metal building construction firm in North Austin that is seeking a Financial Controller to step into a stand-alone leadership role. This is a hybrid position offering flexibility and the opportunity to make a significant impact across two affiliated entities with a combined $50M in project revenue.
This position is open due to an upcoming retirement, and we're looking for someone who can hit the ground running.
What You'll Do:
Manage full-scope financial operations for two construction companies, serving both public and private clients
Oversee all accounting functions including AP/AR, general ledger, payroll, and job cost accounting
Lead monthly closings, financial reporting, forecasting, and budgeting
Prepare WIP (work-in-progress) reports and track project-level profitability
Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and audit requirements
Collaborate directly with ownership and project managers to drive financial insights and efficiency
Maintain internal controls and manage external relationships (auditors, banks, etc.)
What We're Looking For:
10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 4+ years in construction
Proven ability to function independently in a stand-alone controller role
Strong understanding of job cost accounting, WIP, and financial planning
Experience working closely with company ownership and executive teams
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required (CPA a plus)
Proficiency with construction accounting software such as Sage, Procore, or QuickBooks
Compensation & Benefits:
Competitive base salary: $115,000-$140,000, depending on experience
