The Role
The Controller will oversee a team of 4, inclusive of property accountants and job cost accountants, playing a key role in the leadership of the accounting & finance function. The individual hired will also operate in a hands-on capacity, leading on the maturation and development of accounting processes and procedures, creating more structure, and continuously improving the way the team operates.
Role Responsibilities
- Oversee daily financial operations and develop strategies to meet both short & long-term goals.
- Manage cash flow to ensure liquidity and optimize profitability across all business areas.
- Build and maintain banking relationships and implement financial policies, procedures, and controls.
- Lead budgeting, cost management, and financial forecasting efforts while ensuring compliance with loan covenants.
- Manage all accounting functions, including A/R, A/P, reconciliations, and general ledger accuracy.
- Ensure timely financial reporting (monthly, quarterly, annual) and present key metrics to leadership.
- Coordinate with external CPAs for tax filings and oversee relationships with third-party advisors.
- Ensure adherence to financial regulations, legal requirements, and internal controls.
- Safeguard company assets through adequate insurance coverage and risk management practices.
- Act as a key member of the leadership team, contributing to strategic decision-making.
- Lead, mentor, and hold the accounting team accountable while fostering professional growth.
- Promote collaboration across departments to align financial goals with business objectives.
