Position Title:
Commensurate with relevant experience.
An appropriate title for a more experienced employee may be "Accounting Manager" or "Controller". An appropriate title for a qualified, but less experienced employee may be "Senior Accountant".
This is predominantly an "in office" position, with flexibility as appropriate and subject to Company approval

Our Kona-based Company was founded in 1850 by Henry Nicholas Greenwell. Nearly 175 years later, Lanihau focuses primarily on investing in commercial real estate in Hawaii and across the United States, as well as land development and ranching in West Hawaii Island.
Job Description / Primary Responsibilities:
- Own the accuracy of the financial accounting records, including timely maintenance of monthly account reconciliations and preparation of the monthly financial statements on an accrual basis of accounting
- Oversee day-to-day operational elements of the accounting department (including cash receipts and payments/transfers) and Company administration (including compliance matters, etc.)
- Own monthly (management) and quarterly (Audit Committee/Board of Managers) financial reporting, including maintenance and reporting on Company Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Own the annual budgeting process and assist with mid-to-long range strategic planning and forecasting
- Serve as the primary interface with external auditors (as part of the annual financial statement audit) and tax accountants (for general tax needs, including tax filing preparation)
- Support the CEO, VP Properties and CFO with other duties as appropriate
Reporting Lines:
- The employee will oversee administrative support personnel
- The employee will report directly to the CFO and indirectly to the CEO and Board of Managers
General Characteristics and/or Qualifications:
1) Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP (required)
a. Has experience working with financial auditors (preferred)
2) Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
3) Industry experience:
a. Real estate experience / familiarity (preferred)
b. Ranching experience / familiarity (a plus)
4) Is actively engaged in the West Hawaii community (preferred)
5) Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
6) Effective verbal and written communication skills
7) Ability to work independently (and as part of a team) and meet deadlines
8) Coachable. Has the ability and desire to internalize feedback and learn new skillsets and technologies
