The Team
  • VLL operates a 3 Lines of Defence (3LOD) risk management model.
  • This role is within the 1st Line Risk and Controls Team.
  • The team supports both the Technology and Operations (T&O) functions to ensure compliance with risk management policies and standards, including the Control Management Framework.
  • The team manages the T&O 1LoD agenda, oversees governance activities, and provides visibility through reporting and dashboards at all organizational levels.
  • It promotes risk awareness and a proactive risk culture.
  • The team operates independently from business operations to ensure control testing is conducted objectively.
Role Overview
  • Conduct Control Testing across T&O domains.
  • Collaborate with Control Owners and Operators.
  • Support and educate 1LoD teams on Control Testing.
  • Report on progress, results, and follow-up activities.
  • Report key risk information to governance forums.
Responsibilities of the Role
  • Conduct control testing in line with the Annual Test Schedule, Controls Management Framework, and governance.
  • Collaborate with Control Owners to gather evidence, identify gaps, and document issues and actions.
  • Identify areas for process improvement.
  • Work with 1st and 2nd line risk functions.
  • Consolidate and report control testing information to governance bodies and stakeholders.
  • Support development and implementation of procedures for risk management.
  • Support and deputize for the Director of 1st Line Risk & Controls, including mentoring team members.
  • Engage effectively with senior leaders.
