Job Description

Job Title: Mechanical Assembly Technician - Controls

This Position Reports to: Mechanical Assembly Supervisor

Primary Function of Position:

Inspect, repair, install, modify, and maintain electrical/electronic systems such as control boxes for Onin Staffing's product line.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  1. Assembly of electronic components of the control boxes/harnesses/light pods/light bars without direct supervision.
  2. Hook-up of mechanics components, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  3. Troubleshoot any electrical/hydraulic issues using provided testing equipment.

This Position Supervises: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); 1-2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety procedure manuals and engineering drawings.
  • Must be able to follow repetitive work and follow verbal instructions.
  • Experience with 24-volt DC is preferred.
  • Must be able to maintain efficiency while working on multiple jobs.
  • Able to read a tape measure and engineering drawings.
  • Able to use hand tools such as a tap, drill, and wire stripper.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be capable of standing, bending, and climbing for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to use equipment to help lift miscellaneous steel parts, assemblies that may weigh up to several thousand pounds.
  • Must be able to push/pull/maneuver parts that weigh anywhere from 10-100 lbs.

  • Regularly exposed to various weather conditions, including but not limited to cold, heat, or wet.

HAZARDS

Inherent risk of crane operation and normal hazards found in heavy equipment manufacturing:

  • Explosive/fire hazard from flame cutting.
  • Electrical shock.
  • All safety regulations must be strictly adhered to.
