About the Project
ITS Construction is supporting the commissioning phase of a major Energy from Waste (EfW) facility in Ellesmere Port. Backed by a global energy and industrial group, this high-profile infrastructure scheme is entering an advanced stage and requires hands-on commissioning support for its Control & Instrumentation systems.
Role Overview
We are recruiting for 1 2 experienced C&I Commissioning Technicians to support the delivery, testing, and commissioning of all instrumentation and control systems. This includes calibration, loop checking, fault finding, and supporting plant start-up activities across a complex process environment.
Key Responsibilities

Carry out loop checks, instrument calibration, and functional testing of instrumentation (pressure, temperature, level, flow)

Commission PLCs, SCADA, and DCS systems in coordination with OEMs and automation engineers

Interpret and work from P&IDs, wiring diagrams, I/O schedules, and logic diagrams

Assist in the configuration and fault-finding of field instrumentation and control systems

Ensure instrumentation and control systems meet project specifications and handover criteria

Collaborate with electrical and mechanical commissioning teams to ensure full system integration

Maintain detailed commissioning records, punch lists, and redline markups

Ensure all work is carried out safely, in accordance with site permit systems and LOTO procedures
Requirements

Recognised apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3+ in Instrumentation, Electrical, or Control Engineering

Demonstrable commissioning experience in energy, process, or industrial plant environments

Strong knowledge of loop checking, calibration procedures, and field instrumentation

Experience with PLC/DCS/SCADA systems from Siemens, ABB, Allen-Bradley, or similar

ECS/CSCS card required; COMPEX (Desirable)

Ability to read and interpret control drawings and P&IDs

Comfortable working to strict safety and quality procedures in a live plant environment
Desirable

Previous experience on Energy from Waste, biomass, CHP, or large industrial projects

Familiarity with ATEX/EX-rated equipment

Experience supporting pre-commissioning, energisation, and start-up

Competence in managing snagging, punch lists, and site documentation systems
