The Grant Administration team within the School of Public Health-Bloomington (SPH-B) provides pre- and post-award support, and research development opportunities to all the faculty, centers and departments within the school. The Grant Administration team provides support in budget development, proposal submission, contract negotiation, sub-award issuance, and post-award administration, in addition to various research development programs. The team oversees these aspects of funding provided in the form of grants, cooperative agreements, and contracts from external/internal funding sources (e.g., federal agencies, state agencies, private companies, or foundations) that provide support for research, curriculum development, outreach, and/or service work. The Grant Administration team also acts as a liaison between faculty, the Office of Research Administration, and the funding agency. The Grant Administration team ensures compliance with University guidelines, informs faculty and personnel of special contractual requirements, and provides training to University personnel on grants and contracts application and administration. Each member of the team works independently and cooperatively to achieve university and school goals.

Located on the flagship campus of the Indiana University system, SPH-B has more than 2500 enrolled undergraduate and 380 graduate students, 200 faculty, and 95 staff in 5 departments (Applied Health Science, Environmental and Occupational Health, Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Health & Wellness Design, and Kinesiology). Job Summary
  • Provides financial monitoring and analysis of contracts and grants and partners with Principal Investigator(s) to ensure expenses are being paid according to contract
  • Consults on and completes pre-award applications and participates in contract closeouts.
  • Performs post-award accounting of more complex grants; interprets regulations and guidelines of program funding for standard grants and prepares reports for grant agency.
  • Evaluates contract compliance and advises others on contractual rights and obligation.
  • Analyzes awards to determine reporting requirements and sending reports/invoices.
  • Requests or approves amendments to contract terms or contract extensions.
  • Prepares bids or requests for proposals (RFPs), including specifications and requirements; negotiates contract terms and participates in the determination of acceptable bids.
  • Analyzes and determines cash needs for cost reimbursable grants to the various agencies and cash management.
  • Closes out awards as appropriate.
  • Provides policy and procedure interpretation to various stakeholders.
  • Ensures compliance with sponsor terms, university policies/procedures and federal/state regulations.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree (preferably in related field)

Working Conditions / Demands

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus.
