This job administers and oversees the contract intake, review, and processing function of the legal department, supervises contract coordinators and/or other transactional team support staff members, and provides a wide range of support to the transactional team of the legal department. Maintains contract files and databases to support ongoing activity, and establishes parameters for contract processes and ongoing contract monitoring in coordination with transactional attorneys and other members of legal affairs and other departments. Drafts, reviews, and negotiates agreements under the direction of attorneys, communicates with internal clients, and maintains current information as to contract status, renewals, and terminations. Serves as a resource and develops educational tools and resources. Experience with managing an electronic contract life cycle (end-to-end) system with high volumes of contract requests strongly preferred

Education

Required - High School diploma or equivalent.

Preferred - Associate's degree in paralegal/legal studies or Juris Doctorate.

Work Experience

Required - 3 years of experience in contract administration and/or contract drafting and negotiation

Preferred - 5 years' experience in contract administration and/or contract drafting and negotiation

Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
  • Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard.
  • Strong critical thinking, organizing and prioritizing skills.
  • Decision-making and delegation skills.
  • Skills and ability to manage professional staff employees and non-exempt employees.
  • Experience with managing an electronic contract life cycle (end-to-end) system with high volumes of contract requests strongly preferred.
Job Duties
  • Administers and oversees the legal department contract intake and tracking process.
  • Supervises contract coordinators and/or other transactional team support staff members.
  • Administers and maintains contract files, databases, and other technology to support ongoing transactional team activity.
  • Drafts, reviews, and negotiates contractual agreements under the direction and supervision of legal department attorneys.
  • Maintains required documentation and records of contracts and related activity.
  • Supports legal department staff and leadership by providing resources and tools to aid in the contracting and budgeting process.
  • Maintains process quality controls, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing process re-design to enhance performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Other related duties as required.

Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste. The risk level of exposure may increase depending on the essential job duties of the role.
