Contract Interaction Designer (Mobile App Experience)

Location: Bay Area or San Diego (Hybrid Preferred)

Contract Duration: 6 months

Team: UX Design (Small, Collaborative Mobile App Team)

We're looking for a Contract Interaction Designer to join our mobile UX team for a 6-month engagement focused on shipping intuitive, customer-centric experiences. You'll be embedded in a fast-moving, cross-functional environment where you'll help translate user needs into elegant mobile app flows-working closely with product managers, engineers, and fellow designers to improve key parts of the user journey. A portfolio is required for consideration. Please include examples that clearly show your design process, decision-making, and mobile UX execution.

What You'll Do

• Collaborate with product and engineering partners to define experience goals and scope.

• Translate user problems and requirements into intuitive flows, wireframes, and interactive prototypes (primarily in Figma).

• Contribute to design critiques and cross-functional reviews; gather and apply feedback efficiently.

• Support design system consistency while adapting for mobile-specific constraints.

• Partner with other designers to ensure cohesive, scalable experiences across the app.

• Help address edge cases, microinteractions, and UX improvements that matter in a mobile-first context.

What You Bring

• 3-5+ years of UX or interaction design experience, ideally in mobile app environments.

• A strong portfolio is required-showcasing thoughtful, user-centered product work from problem to prototype to launch.

• Proficiency in Figma, with clean file structure and ability to design polished mobile app flows.

• Experience applying human-centered design principles and using research/data to guide decisions.

• Comfort working in agile, fast-paced environments with evolving requirements.

• Strong collaboration and communication skills-especially in small, cross-functional teams.

• A proactive, "make it happen" mindset with the ability to operate independently.

Bonus Points For

• Experience with IoT, smart home, or security-related products.

• Familiarity with design systems and contributing to shared libraries.

• Experience facilitating design workshops or collaborative sessions.

• Experience working with distributed or global teams.

This is a contract position with a focus on delivering meaningful UX work in a short time frame. You'll be joining a supportive and nimble team working to improve how users interact with smart home technology every day.

The pay range for this position reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries at commencement of employment and is expected to be between $53,000 - 80,000/half a year. However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including location, role, job-related knowledge, skills, relevant education and experience.
