Compensation/Benefits:

The internship will last for the entire summer break. Interns will work 40 hours a week, earn a competitive wage, with paid travel.

Basic Job Functions:
  • Rail Administrative Duties
    • Attend weekly Rail Activity Meeting
    • Update and distribute the Activity Meeting Minutes
    • Work with Contract Administrator to accomplish the following:
      • Create files for rail transactions including creation of Documentation checklist
      • Create and update CRM forms and records for rail transactions
      • Work with Contract Administrator on implementation of new CRM insurance system
      • Maintain/update restencilling spreadsheet
    • Create and maintain file storage records
    • Utilize various applications and systems to achieve assigned duties, tasks and responsibilities including but not limited to CRM
  • Carrier Insurance Renewals and Expiration Support
    • Participation in team telephone group (answer calls, transfer to applicable teammate)
    • Attend daily team huddle meetings
    • Generate weekly report of carriers and brokers with insurance expiration within 60 days
    • Contact carriers with insurance expiring within 60 days and request renewal certificates/endorsements be emailed to Nucor Logistics within 3 business days prior to expiration date
    • Contact carriers that have not provided insurance renewal certificates in the following cadence: 60 days prior to expiration, 30 days prior to expiration, 14 days prior to expiration, 7 days prior to expiration, then daily until insurance expiration date
    • Advise carriers of lock out status protocols (i.e., 48 hours prior to insurance expiration date) in the event certificates and endorsements are not received at least 3 business days prior to expiration date
    • Update notes in Carrier Management Portal regarding conversations with carrier, broker and/or insurance companies regarding status with contact name you spoke with
    • Check FMCSA and Safer records for carriers and brokers 30 days prior to insurance expiration and update these records in Carrier Management Portal profile
    • Provide a written end-of-week status report with summary of calls/emails made to carriers regarding insurance status and carrier's responses
  • Support for NLG Counsel/Contract Administration Supervisor
    • Assist in tracking and logging project time in legal metrics tracker
    • Assist in file creation (physical files as well as electronic files)
    • Assist in review of current Contract Administration team processes and procedures manual to create new SOP manual and workflow for department
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate student going into Junior or Senior year in a business discipline
  • Valid state Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Major in Finance, Marketing, Economics, Supply Chain Management, or Sales
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint experience required
  • High level of professionalism and ability to work with a myriad of professionals in the industry
