Job Description

Danfoss is seeking a Continuous Improvement Engineer to join our Van Wert, OH team. The Continuous Improvement Engineer will focus on packaging and driving initiatives to standardize, resolve, and optimize packaging solutions for our plant, customers, and suppliers. Additionally, this role will also have responsibilities in supporting continuous improvement efforts within the areas of Distribution and Hose Assembly operations.

The Continuous Improvement Engineer will report to the Continuous Improvement Manager and operate daily out of the Van Wert, OH facility. Relocation and support for work authorization for this position is not available.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following.

Collaborate with factory leadership to organize, implement and facilitate Kaizen events aimed at enhancing Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost across operations.
Develop and implement packaging solutions that meet company and customer needs.
Conduct feasibility studies and testing to determine the suitability of packaging designs.
Reduce packaging-related costs while improving efficiency and ergonomics.
Monitor industry trends and innovations to stay updated with best practices and technologies.
Create and maintain packaging specifications, standard operating procedures, and guidelines.
Ensure consistency and quality of packaging to and from Danfoss facilities.
Lead Value Stream Mapping initiatives to capture inefficiencies and waste in processes.
Perform time studies and collaborate with Finance and Engineering to establish accurate rates.
Aid in developing job skills and training requirements to optimize process efficiency.
Perform set-up and changeover reduction activities to streamline production.
Drive rapid problem-solving efforts using 8D's, fishbone diagrams, and other methodologies.
Share best practices across the site and with other Danfoss facilities.

Bachelor's degree in engineering (or equivalent experience) or related field is required
A minimum of 2+ years of experience in packaging design, development, or manufacturing is required
Proven ability to apply lean manufacturing tools in an industrial setting
Familiarity with production equipment, distribution, or warehouse facilities
Possess project management and problem-solving skills
Possess excellent written and verbal communication abilities, with the ability to communicate with all levels in the organization

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with SAP ERP
CAD or plant layout experience
Lean Six Sigma training or experience applying process improvement tools
Experience working with change management and process improvement initiatives
Strong understanding of packaging technology, materials, and design principles
