Contaminated Media Program Lead (NDEC Program Manager 2) to join our Redmond, WA team.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to: - This position will serve as the lead technical authority for contaminated media management within our environmental group, supporting a portfolio of high-profile heavy civil projects across the Puget Sound region. Acting as the Environmental Program Lead for contaminated media, this role will guide the strategy and execution of hazardous materials investigations, disposal planning, and regulatory compliance-particularly in construction-phase contexts.
- You will work closely with project managers, senior environmental managers, and technical staff to ensure that contaminated media risks are identified early, addressed effectively, and communicated clearly across project teams. Responsibilities include overseeing the preparation and QA/QC of work plans, compliance documents, and disposal strategies, and providing technical support during contractor engagement and agency coordination efforts.
- Internally, you will mentor mid- and senior-level staff, support consistency across deliverables, and help shape the growth and structure of our contaminated materials program. This role is ideal for a senior scientist or compliance specialist ready to lead a program, collaborate across disciplines, and represent the environmental team in fast-paced, technically complex delivery environments.
Minimum requirements: - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geology, or a related field
- 10+ years of experience managing environmental compliance and permitting for infrastructure or heavy civil construction projects
- Current 40-hour HAZWOPER certification
- Demonstrated success leading teams and delivering environmental services on large-scale, deadline-driven projects
Technical requirements: - Strong knowledge of contaminated media management, SWPPP implementation, hazardous materials handling, and environmental monitoring during construction
- Familiarity with WSDOT, Sound Transit, and local agency requirements
- Ability to oversee and QA/QC environmental deliverables including work plans, compliance memos, and regulatory reports
- Experience coordinating with contractors, regulators, and owners during construction delivery

- Adaptable and responsive to the demands of fast-paced construction environments
- Collaborative communicator who supports PMs and engineers with proactive environmental risk management
Compensation: $105,040 - $162,240 annually
The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the state's law. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
