To ensure junior medical staff operate within the parameters of the New Deal and comply with the Working Time Directive.
To undertake administrative duties related to patient care and record clinical activity accurately for prompt submission.
To participate in service and business planning activities at local and wider service levels.
To engage in annual appraisals for consultants and participate in the Health Board's academic programmes, including lectures and seminars for CPD.
To maintain GMC registration, comply with the Mental Health Act 1983 Section 12(2), and adhere to professional conduct codes.
Main duties of the job
The post involves providing medical input to the Older Person's Community Mental Health Team, based at Bryn Hesketh unit in Colwyn Bay, offering assessment and treatment services for those over 65. The team also provides primary and secondary care, consultancy support, memory clinics, and day services for dementia and mental illness.
The current caseload includes 128 Part II (Mental Health Measure) patients and 67 Part I patients, with a focus on dementia care. Workload reviews are ongoing to adjust service expectations for consultants.

Person Specification Qualifications
- MB BS or equivalent
- Higher degree in medical education, research, or management
- MRCPsych or equivalent
- Welsh AC Approval
- GMC registration with a license to practice
- On GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT
- Approved Clinician status or achievable within 3 months
- Approved under S12 or achievable within 3 months
- CCT or equivalent (confirmation required by GMC by AAC date)
- No warnings or conditions on GMC registration
Clinical Skills
- Training in core and specialist community psychiatry competencies
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams
Teaching and Training
- Experience in postgraduate and multidisciplinary teaching
