We are looking for a highly skilled, compassionate, and experienced consultant clinical psychologist to join us in Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust CAMHS.

Main duties of the job

To lead the design and delivery of evidence-based care pathways and psychological interventions for a range of childhood emotional health and well-being issues across the local system. To support whole-system transformation and lead programs of change that ensure the principles of "Future in Mind" and iThrive recommendations are delivered within the locality. Ensure the systematic provision of high-quality clinical psychology and psychological interventions in the multidisciplinary team for the child and family population of the locality, across all sectors of care. To work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological practice within the service. Embed a local culture of early intervention and develop the recovery and self-management agenda within all.

Job responsibilities

As the Consultant Lead Clinical Psychologist, the post holder would provide clinical leadership for the Clinical Psychologists, Psychological Therapists, and practitioners delivering psychological interventions in the locality CAMHS. These roles include generic psychology posts and specialist psychological posts working with Looked After Children, Autism, and Learning Disability, as well as therapists across a range of modalities. Following recent publication of Psychological Therapies plans for working age and older adults, a Psychological Therapies plan for children and young people is being developed.

Key Result Areas
  1. The development and delivery of whole-system evidence-based care pathways emphasizing recovery, self-management, capacity building, and accessible expertise.
  2. Provision of highly developed specialist psychological assessments of clients referred to the multidisciplinary team, utilizing complex data from various sources, including psychometric procedures, self-report measures, rating scales, structured observations, and interviews with clients, families, and others involved in care.
Person Specification Application and interview
  • Doctorate level training in clinical psychology, including models of clinical, psychometrics, at least two psychological therapies, and child developmental psychology, accredited by the BPS or equivalent.
  • Experience as a qualified clinical psychologist working with children and young people and their families, including line management of psychological therapies staff.
  • Effective communication skills, capable of conveying highly technical and sensitive information to diverse audiences.
  • Experience working with children with complex needs in various settings, including community, inpatient, residential, and foster care environments.
  • Additional qualifications in therapeutic models such as CBT, CAT, psychoanalytic therapies.
  • Experience representing psychology within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Deep knowledge of psychological therapies and assessment methodologies for specific groups.
