We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Consultant in Endocrinology and Diabetes working for a leading Trust in Northern Ireland, UK. This is a 2-year fixed-term contract, with the potential for extension, at the second largest hospital in Northern Ireland, which has teaching hospital status.
The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team comprising three full-time consultant physicians in Endocrinology and Diabetes, and a consultant Chemical Pathologist with an interest in Diabetes.
The post involves providing outpatient and inpatient services in Endocrinology and Diabetes. There is an additional opportunity to manage a sub-specialty osteoporosis clinic, focusing on secondary prevention and complex primary prevention cases, in collaboration with the Trauma & Orthopaedic service and a Consultant Rheumatologist specializing in osteoporosis.
The role includes sharing responsibility for endocrinology, diabetes, and general medical services, and contributing to their development through research, audit, and governance activities.
The post holder will play a key role in medical education, participating in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, and promoting knowledge of Endocrinology & Diabetes within the Trust.

Key Requirements:
- Full GMC registration and license to practice.
- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register for Endocrinology & Diabetes and General Internal Medicine via CCT (proposed CCT within 6 months of interview), CESR, or European Community Rights.
- Knowledge of acute and chronic endocrine and diabetic conditions, including osteoporosis.
- Understanding of management issues including clinical governance and service planning.
Desirable qualifications include higher degrees (MD, PhD), experience managing osteoporosis, and relevant publications or presentations.
