The Role
Joining Balfour Beatty as a Project Manager with specific experience in the installation and integration of airport baggage handling systems (BHS), your primary role will focus on the continued success and development of projects under your preview. Your role will include:
Essential Functions
- Project Management: Lead all aspects of BHS-related construction projects from planning through commissioning, including budgeting, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, system integration and testing.
- Specialty Coordination: Coordinate closely with BHS vendors, mechanical contractors, and airport stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate installation of conveyor systems, scanners, and related controls.
- Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary liaison between the construction team, airport authorities, TSA, and other project partners.
- Scheduling & Logistics: Develop and maintain detailed project schedules accounting for operational constraints and airport security protocols; ensure critical milestones are met.
- Quality & Compliance: Ensure all work complies with airport standards, TSA regulations, and contract requirements; monitor inspections, testing, and commissioning procedures.
- Risk & Safety Management: Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies; enforce rigorous safety protocols in live operational environments.
- Budget Oversight: Track project budgets and costs, process change orders, and ensure financial targets are met or exceeded.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate project documentation including submittals, RFIs, daily reports, and progress tracking.
What you will need
- B.S. in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field position.
- Minimum 5-8 years of construction project management experience, with at least 3 years specifically managing airport BHS installations or similar specialty systems.
- Proven deep understanding of mechanical systems and airport operational environments, with a successful track record delivering complex infrastructure projects in live airport settings.
- Strong working knowledge of baggage handling systems, including integration with TSA screening technologies and controls systems.
- Proven experience with project manager software (Constructware, P6, Timberline, etc.).
