Pre-Construction Manager
Location: Des Moines, Iowa

Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pre-Construction Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will have 5 years of Pre-Construction or Estimating experience on a diverse range of commercial projects. This role requires a natural leader who thrives in both collaborative and independent work settings. Experience with Medical and Industrial projects is a plus, as is expertise in MEP material and labor/material cost estimating.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Lead the pre-construction process, including project planning, budgeting, and scheduling.
  • Prepare detailed estimates and proposals based on project specifications, drawings, and requirements.
  • Collaborate with the business development team on RFPs and client presentations.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and cost analyses for labor, materials, and equipment.
  • Work closely with MEP subcontractors and vendors to verify pricing and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Coordinate with project managers and field teams to ensure smooth project transitions.
  • Provide value engineering recommendations and identify potential project risks.
  • Review and assess contract documents to ensure scope clarity and completeness.
  • Stay current with market trends, pricing, and industry best practices.

Qualifications:


  • 5 years of experience in Pre-Construction or Estimating for commercial projects.
  • Proven expertise in medical, industrial, or MEP-heavy projects is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and costs.
  • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., ProEst, Sage Estimating, Bluebeam, or similar).
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
