Construction Manager/Area Superintendent - Heavy Highway & Bridge

Job Description:

We're partnered with a nationally recognized Heavy Civil General Contractor to identify an experienced Construction Manager or Senior Superintendent for a $250M+ heavy highway infrastructure project

This is a major opportunity for an operations-driven leader who thrives in the field. The project includes multiple bridge structures and large-scale earthwork (3M+ CY). It's a long-duration build (2+ years) with direct runway to senior leadership - the current Ops Manager is set to retire within 1-2 years, opening a clear path for upward mobility.

What You'll Do:

  • Take full ownership of a landmark DOT project from kickoff to closeout
  • Lead 60+ craft and subcontractor personnel across heavy bridge, roadway, and structural scopes
  • Serve as the boots-on-the-ground leader, with hands-on responsibility for schedule, safety, and quality
  • Collaborate directly with project leadership and owner reps
  • Support field culture with accountability, efficiency, and mentorship

What We're Looking For:

  • 10-25+ years of experience in heavy civil infrastructure (bridges, highways, DOT, earthwork)
  • Demonstrated success leading large teams and managing major public projects
  • Strong working knowledge of self-perform operations and subcontractor oversight
  • Field-first leadership style - proactive, practical, and solutions-oriented
  • Background with contractors like Walsh, Ames, Kiewit, Flatiron, Granite, Zachry or similar is a plus

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Base salary: $170K-$200K, with potential to grow to $225K-$270K+
  • 20-25% bonus structure, completion incentives, and long-term tenure rewards
  • Truck + gas card, full health benefits, 401(k) with 6% match
  • Relocation assistance available

Why This Role?

  • Join a firm with $2B+ in active backlog and a national reputation for delivering complex infrastructure
  • Direct path to District Ops or Executive Leadership
  • Stability, autonomy, and a strong internal culture that promotes from within
