My client is a well-established heavy civil construction firm with a strong reputation in the Southwest. They specialize in large-scale infrastructure projects such as roadway construction, bridges, underground utilities, mass grading, and site development. With several high-profile projects across the Mesa/Phoenix area, they are looking to bring on an experienced Heavy Civil Construction Manager to lead operations and drive successful project delivery.


Position Overview:

The Heavy Civil Construction Manager will oversee the planning, execution, and completion of multiple civil projects. This role requires a hands-on leader who can manage field teams, coordinate with clients and public agencies, and ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day operations of heavy civil construction projects from start to finish
  • Collaborate with clients, engineers, and inspectors to ensure smooth project delivery
  • Direct and support project superintendents, foremen, and field crews
  • Ensure compliance with all safety standards and regulatory requirements
  • Monitor project schedules, costs, and quality standards
  • Handle subcontractor coordination and material procurement
  • Serve as the main point of contact for project stakeholders
  • Proactively resolve job site issues and ensure proper documentation
  • Work closely with executive leadership on resource planning and reporting

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of heavy civil construction management experience
  • Proven success managing large-scale infrastructure or DOT projects
  • Strong knowledge of roadway construction, grading, utilities, and structural concrete
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred
  • Familiar with project management tools (Procore, P6, Bluebeam, etc.)
  • Valid driver's license; ability to travel to job sites throughout the Mesa/Phoenix area

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with Arizona DOT or other public agencies
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus
  • PMP certification or equivalent a plus
