Job Summary

CalPortland is seeking a summer intern for the Construction Group. This internship is ideal for a student interested in construction management and accounting. This individual will have the opportunity to work on a variety of heavy civil projects such as road, bridge, disaster recovery, etc., performing tasks in all phases of the project (i.e., bid/estimates, fieldwork, documentation, compliance reporting, etc.)

Compensation

$22.00-$26.00/hr DOE

Responsibilities
  • Complete Safety and MSHA training and any other site/job specific required training
  • Carry-out and practice all Safety training and Company policies in the CalPortland workplace
  • Assist in routine housekeeping and maintenance of the facilities
  • Assist with equipment costing analysis
  • Assist with building a reporting process that can review and qualify all operating and ownership cost
  • Learn about other CalPortland departments and interface as required
  • Attend Summer Intern Orientation event at Corporate Headquarters in Glendora, CA
  • Perform plant tasks as assigned
Education

Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related field.

Requirements/Qualifications
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Good attendance and punctual
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting

Preferred:

  • Experience with SAP
  • Prior experience or internship in the construction or building materials industry
Conditions of Employment

Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require FMCSA regulated on-going drug and alcohol testing.
