Estimator - Construction
Salary: £55,000 - £70,000 (depending on experience)
Location: Swansea (with occasional travel across South Wales)

A well-established and growing construction company in South Wales is seeking an experienced Estimator to join its dynamic Pre-development Team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled professional to contribute to a variety of high-quality residential and commercial projects across the region.

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for a wide range of construction projects. This includes analysing project documents such as drawings, plans, and specifications to assess the cost of labour, materials, and equipment. You'll play a key role in supporting pre-construction planning and ensuring projects are financially viable from the outset.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review project documentation to determine the scope of work, resource requirements, and cost factors
  • Conduct site visits as needed to assess project conditions and gather relevant data
  • Prepare detailed bills of quantities and cost estimates for labour, materials, plant, and subcontractor services
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to gather essential project information
  • Maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain accurate and competitive pricing
  • Assist in the preparation of bid proposals and attend pre-bid meetings
  • Keep accurate records of all estimates, proposals, and relevant project documentation
  • Carry out other duties relevant to the position as required
Key Requirements:
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, materials, and industry best practices
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills
  • High attention to detail and strong communication abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience using estimating software (e.g. Evaluate or similar)
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
  • A degree in a construction-related field is desirable but not essential
