SMX is seeking a Configuration Specialist to support software configuration and automation pipeline integration efforts for a Federal customer. You will play a key role in ensuring that configuration data, baselines, and records are consistently maintained to support the secure operation and continuous delivery of DevSecOps pipelines in AWS GovCloud IL5 environments. This is a hands-on opportunity to help modernize and secure mission-critical systems through precision and process discipline. This position is a hybrid role supporting a Hanover, Maryland based team. Essential Duties: Maintain accurate records of software configurations, deployments, and component versions across development, staging, and production environments. Collaborate with software engineers and DevOps teams to align configurations with release automation pipelines and continuous integration workflows. Support the onboarding of systems and teams by ensuring configuration baselines are clearly documented and traceable. Track and report changes to software components, services, and tools to maintain compliance with ATO requirements and RMF processes. Ensure traceability and integrity of all configuration items and artifacts, including scripts, binaries, and documentation. Assist in the maintenance of configuration management databases (CMDBs), version control repositories, and deployment records. Participate in sprint activities, reviews, and technical documentation updates related to configuration and release tracking. Required Skills & Experience: Associate's degree in Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in configuration management, software deployment tracking, or related support roles. Experience working within Agile and DevSecOps environments using tools such as Git, Jira, and Confluence. Familiarity with release management and change control processes in secure IT environments. Detail-oriented with strong documentation and data management skills. Secret clearance. Desired Skills & Experience Experience supporting software and infrastructure teams in cloud environments, especially AWS GovCloud or IL5. Exposure to automated CI/CD pipelines and tools (e.g., GitLab, Jenkins, SonarQube). Familiarity with DoD RMF and STIG compliance practices. Certifications in ITIL, CompTIA Security+, or configuration management tools.
