Role Overview

The role involves programme organisation to implement CM methodology, providing evidence of the achievement of the Golden Thread, and ensuring consistency between requirements, technical information, and realized products.

The position is that of the Process Owner, Single Point of Contact, and Functional Manager for the Programme concerning Configuration Management Organization, People, Process, Tools & Data. This role works in cooperation with AWEClient, Partners, Contractors, and Delivery Projects to ensure synergy, standardization, and performance aligned with business requirements.

Your Purpose

Lead, manage, and establish configuration management at a company or programme level for complex, large-scale, multidisciplinary programmes across the full technical lifecycle, ideally in a Nuclear Civils, Building Services & Process Plant and Equipment environment.

  • Activities: Establish, maintain, and implement a programme-level CM system (strategy, policy, plan, procedures, standards, organization, people, processes & tools) in compliance with the Client and Partners Quality Management System, Information Systems, External Standards, and best practices.
  • Capability Planning: Provide planning, budgeting, scheduling, implementation, monitoring, and improvement (people, process & tools) to meet Programme CM workload requirements. Be accountable for the deployment and maintenance of the Configuration Management system within various workstreams.
  • Risk Management: Ensure Programme CM risks are identified and managed, contribute to lessons learned, and ensure lessons learned and CM risks are mitigated at the Programme level. Build a network of relationships with external businesses, contractors, and industry experts to enhance the Programme's reputation and adopt best practices.
  • Professional Membership: Be a professional member of the Institute of CM or similar. Be fully conversant with System Engineering, Technical Quality Assurance, Project Management, and In-Service principles.
  • Qualifications: Educated to Degree or HND/HNC level with experience in Senior Management Training/Qualification.
  • Organization & People: Collaborate with the Client SME to ensure programme CM requirements are achieved. Define the Programme CM organization and role definitions. Ensure competent CM resources are provided and effectively managed. Manage CM staff job descriptions, performance, and delivery, and intervene as necessary to address gaps or poor performance.
  • Processes: Ensure the programme has the necessary CM processes to ensure consistency and support delivery. Plan and support CM audit schedules and closure of corrective actions. Raise NCRs when process failures are observed. Define, report, and improve CM KPIs.
  • Tools: Establish and implement the Configuration Management System, including interfaces/integration with other systems. Provide training for practitioners and users. Participate in selecting CM tools and ensure they meet standards and processes. Manage tool updates and administration.
  • Data: Establish baseline quality configuration information aligned with the work breakdown structure.
  • Skills required: Deep understanding of CM standards (Def Stan 05-57, 05-61, EIA-649, ISO10007, IpX CMII). Experience in performing CM support throughout the full lifecycle in similar environments. Proficiency with PLM tools for managing product data, asset data, requirements, documents, drawings, records, and CAD models. Experience managing dispersed teams to achieve CM directives.
  • Desirables: Knowledge of local industry standards, license conditions, and business operations. Experience managing teams to meet CM milestones. Experience in highly regulated/nuclear environments.
