Title: Computer Technician/Technology Engineer
Qualifications: Associate Degree or Higher in Technology and experience in the following areas:
- Microsoft desktop operating systems
- Microsoft servers (hardware/software)
- Hardware and software installations, configurations and troubleshooting including disassembly and assembly of components
- Client software installation, configuration, and troubleshooting
- Anti-virus software installation, configuration, and troubleshooting
- Ghost software and "Ghosting" procedures
- Network wiring and network electronics
Reports To: District Technology Coordinator, Superintendent
Job Goal: To provide technical assistance and support to implement the district's technology plan
Terms of Employment: 12 months
Salary: Commensurate with education, contract period, and employment history
Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Board policies on evaluation of professional personnel
Responsibilities: - Perform hardware maintenance and upgrades/patches for the District's WAN infrastructure (including routers, switches, and firewall), LAN infrastructures, voice communication systems, video networks, Internet access to include Internet filtering, anti-virus protection, and email system.
- Configure and set up network printers, computers, and other peripherals.
- Maintain inventory of necessary parts and determine need for replacements.
- Test new technologies.
- Provide technical support (repair, maintenance, and safety procedures) to schools and departments in the district to include but not limited to software selections/usage and computer workstations; laptops; handheld devices; printers; scanners; digital cameras; projection devices; video filming, editing and production equipment; TVs; VCRs; DVD players; cable access; and network access.
- Provide assistance as needed with daily backups for fileservers and all other sensitive data and systems.
- Maintain videoconferencing equipment.
- Setup and/or move workstations as dictated by the computer rotation schedule and/or the District Technology Coordinator.
- Provide information concerning updates and train as needed.
- Install, configure and troubleshoot software applications including the management of database software incorporating current updates and patches.
- Maintain current networking diagrams of each school/location in the district.
- Maintain current inventory of Erate and district inventory of all hardware, software, and peripheral devices at each location in the district.
- Provide technical assistance to the Technology Coordinator during Erate PIA and Selective Reviews.
- Assist in the development, modification, and implementation of the District Technology Plan.
- Assist with creating and updating school and district web pages.
- Assist schools and departments with short and long range technology planning and staff development.
- Serve as a liaison with other educational and community agencies and organizations as requested.
- Maintain current personal technological knowledge and skills.
- Evaluate computer and other equipment capabilities on a yearly basis.
Expectations: - Read email and technical requests daily and respond within 8 working hours.
- Work an 8 hour day excluding a 30 minute lunch.
- Wear phone during work hours and respond immediately when called by District Technology Coordinator or District Office.
- Review, respond, update, and complete all technical service requests in a timely fashion.
- Communicate with principal or local school technology coordinator designee upon arrival and departure at each site.
- Communicate with principal or local school technology coordinator designee at each site regarding service request progress via conference, email, written note, or phone.
- Meet regularly and report on completion of technical requests and needs to the District Technology Coordinator.
- Test to ensure service request is complete and successful.
