05/16/2025 QUALIFICATIONS: Associates degree in Computer Science or related field, with two years experience in a network environment or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Strong knowledge of computer software, hardware and related technologies. Understanding of mechancial, electronics, and computer principles as applied to repair and maintenance of computers. Knowledge of infrastructure requirements and components of local area network. Ability to communicate with all levels of technology users and establish and maintain effective working relationships as it related to Iredell-Statesville Schools technology initiatives. Experience with Apple, Aerohive, Microsoft, and/or Cisco systems a plus. They must hold a valid N. C. State driver's license.
RESPONSIBILITIES: An individual in this class supports and maintains both administrative and instructional computers, software, and networks. This work includes repair of all technology-related equipment. Employees provide on-site assistance in classrooms, media centers, computer labs, and administrative offices. Employee identifies problems and takes appropriate corrective action. Employee installs and upgrades all technology-related equipment in network and stand-alone environments. Typically, this employee will provide first response support from the system level for the maintenance and operation of computers, software, and networks at the building level. Employees will have multiple sites to maintain. Complex problems are referred to Technician III or Network Engineer positions.
Duties are as described.
  • Performs a variety of technical tasks in the installation, diagnosis, repair and maintenance of computers, network job entry stations and related equipment within the computer network.
  • Provide information and /or technical assistance to users concerning the development of maintenance of the computer network or for resolution of special problems
  • Creates and maintains EMail and Internet accounts on computer; configures EMail and security on computers
  • Respond to service calls; diagnose and correct equipment failure and malfunctions; repairs or replace malfunctioning equipment
  • Maintain accurate and current records on repair, installation and removal of equipment; provide appropriate logging and tracking of hardware malfunctions.
  • Repair and maintenance of all technology-related equipment as well as technical support for all technology related systems.
  • Assist with the installation of local area networks, file servers, and other related peripherals.
  • Ensures the maintenance of computers, software, and local area networks by tracking significant problems, monitoring performance, and installing upgrades to hardware and software.
  • Reads and interprets schematics, wiring diagrams, and manuals.
  • Operates standard and specialized electronics devices in testing and troubleshooting computers and other technology-related equipment.
  • Ability to organize work, set priorities, use time effectively, work independently, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds, walk and/or stand for long periods of time and operate a motor vehicle.
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
