The Computer Support Technician is responsible for a wide range of activities related to technology support such as maintaining, analyzing, troubleshooting, and repairing hardware and software systems. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy.

Additionally, this position: Resolves hardware or software problems in response to user questions and requests for assistance by diagnosing the source of malfunctions, recommending corrective actions, and/or consulting with appropriate staff or vendor. Installs, configures, upgrades, or replaces computer hardware and software for users. Evaluates and makes recommendations for necessary adjustments to applications to satisfy user requirements. Provides recommendations on the purchase of user hardware and software. Assists in planning, preparation, and conducting seminars on software, hardware, network or other computer related topics. This position will also be responsible for providing backup support for the college helpdesk.

While this position is primarily user-facing for break/fix scenarios, the employee may be tasked with additional high-level tasks such as Group Policy management, networking configuration including DHCP and VLAN assignments, server administration and IT security enhancements.

Performs other duties as assigned.
