Seeking a skilled Machinist for our client's manufacturing team. This individual will be responsible for machining, assembling, and fabricating high-tolerance components and tooling for mechanisms, actuators, and deployable systems. The ideal candidate has experience working with mechanical assemblies and excels at developing custom tooling and fixturing to support intricate fabrication and assembly processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC and manual mills, lathes, and precision grinders to produce aerospace-grade components with tight tolerances.
- Design, fabricate, and validate custom tooling and fixtures to support precision machining, assembly, and testing of aerospace mechanisms.
- Perform precision assembly of mechanical systems including hinges, actuators, deployment mechanisms, and structural assemblies.
- Conduct detailed inspections using precision metrology tools (CMM, micrometers, calipers, optical comparators) to ensure all parts meet stringent quality and dimensional requirements.
- Support the development and refinement of manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, repeatability, and quality.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree, technical certificate, or apprenticeship in machining, manufacturing, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a machinist
- Proficiency in CNC programming (Mastercam, Fusion 360, or similar), setup, and operation.
- Strong understanding of materials (titanium, aluminum alloys, stainless steels, composites) and appropriate cutting techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical specifications.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and documentation skills.
