CAD DESIGN LEAD (Fine & Sterling Jewelry)


Position Overview:

As the CAD Design Lead, you will play a critical role in bridging conceptual design and production execution. Reporting to the Senior Design Manager, this position is responsible for transforming creative concepts into high-quality 3D models and renderings while ensuring consistency with the brand aesthetic and manufacturing standards.


Responsibilities:


• Translate conceptual sketches from the Senior Design Manager into high quality, manufacturable 3D models using Rhino and ZBrush in adherence department standards (e.x., closed solid objects, minimal object density, model/structure organization, etc.) and production handoff dates


• Ensure models exhibit design intent, brand cohesiveness, and technical excellence throughout the development life cycle


• Work through design ambiguity by interpreting incomplete or evolving concepts and transforming them into resolved technical on brand solutions


• Troubleshoot and refine functional jewelry mechanisms such as clasps, hinges, and closures to ensure usability and production feasibility


• Ensure alignment with Senior Design Manager and Product Development on design intent, manufacturability, and cost goals
• Create photorealistic renderings in KeyShot to support design reviews and cross-functional collaboration


• Review and revise vendor-supplied CADs to ensure alignment with brand aesthetic specifications and quality standards


• Research and explore traditional and non-traditional jewelry techniques; provide insights on component design and construction


• Partner with Product Development on CAD needs across new, existing, and updated products, including quality and production revisions


• Support prototyping through 3D printing as needed


• Maintain design documentation, including master component lists, shared folders, and templates Design Team Member


• Collaborate effectively within the team to meet design timelines and assortment goals


• Establish and monitor individual timelines to ensure adherence to the overall project timelines


• Communicate clearly and consistently to ensure smooth workflow and project updates, including updating workflow tracking documents and reporting overall project status in meetings


• Proactively flag and discuss any roadblocks as they arise


• Adapt design approach to align with brand aesthetic and evolving trends


• Stay open to feedback and flexible with revisions to samples and models


• Contribute to design and technical innovation


• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment


• Support general organizational tasks and team needs, as assigned


• Work cross-functionally with both Design and Product Development, balancing competing priorities as needed


• Support continuous improvement of workflows, technical standards, and handoff processes across teams


Our Ideal Candidate Will Have:


• Bachelor's degree in Jewelry Design, Industrial Design, or a related field


• 5+ years of experience in 3D Design for jewelry or product development, ideally in a fast-paced brand environment. Please be prepared to show a portfolio


• Advanced proficiency in Rhino 3D, KeyShot, and Adobe Creative Suite; familiarity with ZBrush, and 3D printing workflows


• Demonstrated ability to turn complex concepts into clean, production-ready 3D files with a high degree of technical and aesthetic detail


• Deep understanding of jewelry manufacturing techniques, component design, and materials (metal, stones, ect.), preferability for fine & sterling silver jewelry


• Excellent communication and project management skills with ability to prioritize across multiple deliverables


• Ability to take instruction and direction, including effective use of constructive feedback


• Excellent listening and communication skills


• Basic problem-solving skills with an eye for technical detail


• Ability to contribute to a pleasant and fast-paced work environment
