Job Location: Remote. Training in Huntersville, NC and as needed (if local to Huntersville, position can be hybrid or on-site)
Responsibilities:
Support customers and sales team with any kind of Application Services (e.g. functional lightweight material construction, and multi-material design optimization)
Develop and define material selection with sales team and customers to resolve highly complex manufacturing, cost, and performance issues in composite parts.
Develop and improve materials used in SAERTEX fabrics and customer applications.
Present project results and technologies to internal and external groups.
Utilize SAP ERP Product Management tools to establish textile designs.
Support coordination of conformance and specification issues between SAERTEX plants and Key Customer Procurement and Specification custodians.
Brainstorm and discuss reinforcements design and material concepts with customers solving technical challenges related to composite applications (marine, industry, infrastructure, automotive).
Present project results and technologies to internal and external groups.
Support customers with technical expertise to improve processes and overcome challenges.
Identify potential new applications for SAERTEX products and support Account Managers in capturing new business, assessing market trends, developing business cases, and evaluating competitor's materials.
Accompany customers as needed on SAERTEX site audits and visits, leading where required.
Desire to perform hands on infusion lab work and fabrication of composites.
Work closely with sales team on new projects and programs.
Willing to travel to customer sites regularly. In the USA, Canada and Mexico.
Other Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in textile technology, material science or composite technology or similar engineering discipline.
Minimum of 3-5 years in manufacturing environment with experience and interest in developing and applying material processes in composites including hand layup, compression molding, vacuum bagging.
Preferred: 5+ years of composites experience in a technical role.
Deep knowledge of composite processes including hand layup, compression molding, vacuum bagging, curing, testing and inspecting.
Extensive knowledge of composite materials including reinforcement fibers, fabrics and resins.
Problem solving, relationship building, and identifications of new opportunities.
Being comfortable in talking with and in front of groups (in English and Spanish is a plus).
Good knowledge of FEA Analysis tools for composites. Ability to design composite laminates using different reinforcement materials.
Strong track of knowledge sharing and excellent communication skills nationally and internationally with peers and customers.
