About the Role:
We re looking for a detail-oriented, mission-driven Compliance Specialist to join our growing DEA Compliance team. This key role supports and strengthens our compliance with DEA regulations, state and federal laws, and internal policies with a focus on Suspicious Order Monitoring (SOM), controlled substance oversight, and anti-diversion initiatives.

What You ll Do:
  • Lead and support DEA compliance activities focusing on SOM, ARCOS, CSOS, and suspicious order investigations.
  • Conduct Know Your Customer (KYC) due diligence and ongoing monitoring.
  • Investigate pended controlled substance orders and prepare clear, objective documentation.
  • Maintain accurate and compliant DEA recordkeeping and reporting (SORS, ARCOS, theft/loss reports, inventories, state filings).
  • Collaborate across departments to ensure compliance in all controlled substance activities.
  • Support audits, inspections, and interactions with the DEA and State Boards of Pharmacy.
  • Help implement and manage internal training programs on DEA compliance and controlled substances.
  • Stay ahead of regulatory changes and support SOP updates and continuous improvement initiatives.


What We re Looking For Must-Haves:
  • Bachelor s degree OR 4+ years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical, healthcare, or regulated industry compliance.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in DEA compliance or controlled substance regulations (6+ for non-degreed candidates).
  • Strong knowledge of DEA regulations (21 CFR 1300+) and applicable federal, state, and local controlled substance laws.
  • Proven experience with SOM, ARCOS, CSOS, and compliance auditing.
  • Excellent analytical, documentation, and investigative skills.
  • Proficient in advanced Excel and database tools.
  • High attention to detail, ability to work independently, and strong time-management skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills; able to work with all levels of the organization and external regulatory agencies.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience interacting directly with DEA field offices or regulatory investigators.
  • Background in investigative work, diversion control, or compliance program oversight.
  • Knowledge of drug distribution and/or pharmacy laws and industry best practices.
