About the Role:
This is a key Hotel Accounting Leadership position with dual responsibilities to perform Hands-On Accounting duties along with Accounting Operations Management duties at both the primary and secondary properties. This position will require strong accounting, leadership, and communication skills. Ideal candidates must have Independent Hotel Accounting experience and will be key in ensuring effective Hotel Accounting Operations. - Position Type: Full-time, permanent position (Exempt).
- Location: College Park, MD, 100% on-site.
- Compensation: $120K - $135K, with a discretionary annual bonus.

How You Contribute:
- Perform hands-on accounting and lead overall accounting operations for the primary and secondary hotel properties.
- Partner with the Corporate Accounting Team for month-end (P&L) reporting, ownership reports, and related duties.
- Act as a Communications Leader between Accounting and all other departments at both properties.
- Ensure the timely billing of all direct bill accounts with complete backup and accurate invoices.
- Ensure all guest disputes and requests for clarification are resolved and/or responded to within 24 hours of notice.
- Responsible for the reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts for both properties.
- Ensure an effective tracking system for all rebates, adjustments, refunds, deposits, and similar
- Utilize ProfitSword, Yardi, and other tools to manage hotel expenses, coordinate forecasts, track and report revenue & expenses, and provide accurate daily, weekly, and monthly reporting.
- Prepare company reconciliation and resolve disputes while engaging in process improvement initiatives to streamline reconciliations to ensure a reduction in mistakes, and to update SOPs.
- Manage the balance of daily income journals and reports, and complete month-end and year-end closings promptly.
- Perform daily cash management duties, implement audit and inspection processes, and improve cash handling functions.
- Responsible for all phases of Purchase Orders, Receivables, Collections, and Accuracy of billing.
- Maintain accurate Banquets Expenses (service charge distribution, billing collections, covers, and labor tracking).
- Ensure all Bank Deposits are accurate and balance totals from Delphi, PMS, and the Accounting System.
- Process credit applications for direct billing and setting up vendors for all departments.
- Process MD Sales and Use Tax and County Occupancy Tax Monthly.
- Understand emergency procedures and maintain knowledge and compliance with all company policies and standards.
- Attend department meetings and training sessions as necessary
- Train and manage the Accounting Staff through respectful communication, setting clear expectations, relevant training, productive coaching, regular team meetings, and appropriate performance management.
- Improve Accounting Process efficiency in collaboration with the Accounting Team and other Departments.
- Participate and contribute to company engagement efforts, such as conferences, meetings, etc., as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 6+ years of hands-on Hotel Accounting experience with Independent Hotels IS REQUIRED.
- 2+ years of Accounting Team Leadership experience.
- High degrees of initiative, accounting accuracy, and strong communication skills.
- Preferred Software Experience: ProfitSword, Opera, Delphi, Yardi, and/or related systems.
