Job Description: Perform stress analysis and related activities for new and derivative designs of interior furnishings and amenities as part of outfitting new aircraft. Review engineering drawings, including custom cabinetry such as galleys, lavatories, closets and other storage compartments, interior peripheries, water/waste systems, entertainment equipment installations, and seating installations. Prepare load calculations. Write stress reports in collaboration with the Structural Engineering Group and Structural AR's providing approvals. Perform analysis of airframe modifications to meet the requirements of interior installations. Perform aircraft level analysis (i.e., decompression and floor loading analysis) utilizing classical hand analysis and Finite Element Modeling using FEMAP with Nastran. Execute assignments under the direction of the Engineering Lead or Group Head to meet manufacturing schedules. Employ analysis methods and design standards consistent with company standards and accepted methods. Assist with the planning, coordination, performance of design, analysis, and liaison engineering supporting the development and production of company products and services. Contribute to the planning, developing, and coordinating of important engineering projects. Provide specialized technical assistance to team members. Use advanced techniques and modified extension of theories to provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Determine and develop own approach to solutions within schedule and cost objectives. Work under limited supervision, having work only reviewed for accuracy and consistency with meeting overall objectives. Act as liaison with representatives outside of the assigned group/area. Actively work to improve daily processes and ensure all work meets customer requirements. Maintain a current knowledge of developments in the field of specialty and/or other related aircraft fields in order to recommend innovations to improve quality and effectiveness of company product. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements: Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field required. Five years of stress analysis experience in job offered or related engineering position in business aviation completions required, including any experience with: Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations (14CFR) as it pertains to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulation procedures; the STC process as it relates to the certification of aircraft interiors; utilizing AutoCAD and CATIA V5 to review engineering designs; and with Finite Element Analysis using FEMAP. In lieu of a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field and five years of experience, Employer will accept a Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field and three years of the above-listed experience or a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field and one year of the above-listed experience.
