Job Description The
Community Outreach and Volunteer Coordinator specializing in Development & Marketing plays a critical role in advancing the City's public engagement, and fundraising initiatives. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining meaningful relationships with residents, community organizations, and potential partners, including coordinating marketing campaigns, planning community events, and executing development strategies that support City programs and services. Additional responsibilities include planning and executing fundraising campaigns, researching and securing sponsorships, grants, and donations. This role requires strong communication skills, creative thinking, organizational prowess, and a passion for community involvement and public service.
Essential Job Functions- Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive community outreach and engagement strategies that promote city initiatives and services.
- Plan and execute marketing and communication campaigns, including print, digital, and social media, to promote events, programs, and volunteer opportunities.
- Assist with grant writing, donor outreach, sponsorship solicitation, and other fundraising and development activities.
- Maintain databases for sponsors, and community stakeholders. Track participation metrics and prepare reports to evaluate program success.
- Serve as a City liaison at community events, public meetings, and outreach programs, fostering positive relationships and ensuring consistent messaging.
- Maintain compliance with City policies and ensure proper risk management practices in all volunteer and outreach activities
Non-Essential Job Functions: - Provide backup support to other Communications team members during major events or peak periods.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on trends in nonprofit development, marketing, and community engagement.
- Assist with emergency communication coordination and public information distribution.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications- High school diploma or GED
- Two (2) years of experience in marketing, event planning, volunteer coordination, or community outreach, preferably with a non-profit or animal welfare organization
- Valid Texas driver's license with a good driving record
Preferred Qualifications: - Associate or Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Nonprofit Management, or a related field
- Experience with fundraising, grant writing, or donor relations
- Fear Free Certification
- Bilingual (Spanish/English)
Supplemental InformationKnowledge, Skills, Abilities: - Skilled in using design software (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite), social media tools, and website content management systems.
- Experience developing and executing marketing campaigns across multiple platforms.
- Experience planning and executing events, from small community gatherings to large fundraisers.
- Experience managing social media (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, LinkedIn).
- Basic photography and videography skills for storytelling and promotional content.
- Knowledge of Google Analytics and SEO for optimizing website visibility.
- Experience in campaign planning, donor engagement, and corporate sponsorships.
- Knowledge of donor management platforms and grant funding procedures is preferred.
- Passion for animal welfare and advocacy.
- Ability to manage multiple initiatives and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements: - Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. and assist in physical event set up
- Frequent walking, standing, crouching, kneeling, and bending.
- Tolerance for animal dander, hair, and cleaning chemicals.
- Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions.
- Must be able to work 10-hour shifts as needed.
Work Environment: - Work is performed in both an office setting and in the field at community centers, event venues, and public spaces. The role involves regular interaction with residents, partners, vendors, and animals.
