Job summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced administrator to join our friendly and proactive Community Nurse Team. The primary role will be to support the Arbennek Probus Community Nursing Team and assist in the day-to-day operations of the nurse's office. The role may include some weekend working.

The responsibilities include managing referrals from entry to discharge, interacting with patients, carers, and other health and social care professionals, inputting data into electronic systems, monitoring staff Lone Working, and managing documents.

Support tasks include managing appointments, inputting data onto rosters, maintaining registers and databases, and ordering stock and equipment. The role requires the ability to travel independently between offices and cover the service over a 7-day rota system.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be articulate with a keen eye for detail and must maintain patient and staff confidentiality.

  • Managing referrals via electronic systems and clinical record-keeping systems
  • Arranging meetings, preparing agendas, note-taking, and distributing papers
  • Supporting clinical staff by liaising with patients, gathering information from MDT, and using electronic systems for communication
  • Assisting with HR, workforce, and recruitment paperwork
  • Acting as the first point of contact for telephone enquiries from patients, relatives, carers, health and social care professionals, referrers, and the public
  • Answering calls, dealing with enquiries, maintaining messages, and forwarding to relevant departments
  • Sorting and managing incoming mail and stock deliveries

Person Specification Education, qualifications, and experience
  • NVQ Level 3 in Administration or equivalent experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills
Skills and Aptitude
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to prioritize workload and work independently
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Knowledge and abilities
  • Accurate typing and keyboard skills
  • Previous healthcare office experience
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Familiarity with CFT IT systems
