The American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) is currently seeking a Communications Associate to join its Communications team. In this role, the Communications Associate will perform a variety of programmatic duties in support of the Communications Department. They will work closely with the Communications staff to support departmental tasks and support the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion team on DEI related initiatives.


Reporting to the Manager, Integrated Comms and Social Media, the Communications Associate is responsible for the following:


-Process requests for payment from Communications contractors and attribute expenses to Communications budget.

-Communications Initiatives

  • Develop PowerPoints for governance and other internal/external meetings
  • Create social media copy for ABIM's social media channels, support monitoring of social media channels
  • Support digital team in the maintenance and editing of the ABIM website
  • Creation and design of PowerPoints for internal/external use

-Provide support to ABIM's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion team on health equity and diversity-related initiatives.

-Perform diversified duties and administrative support for the department. Schedule conference calls and meetings to advance the department's strategic plan and initiatives. Assist in the day-to-day management of smaller-scale projects, ensuring alignment with overall project objectives and deadlines.

-Provide comprehensive administrative support to SVP of Communications and Chief DEI Officer including calendar management, scheduling meetings, and other administrative matters. Maintain confidential information with utmost integrity.

-Anticipate and gather materials needed for correspondence, meetings, conferences, appointments, conference calls, etc. Help plan and manage department convenings including agenda development and coordination of logistical aspects, including schedules, participants, agenda, and creation of supporting materials.

-Assist in research of new software and other tools to amplify the department; be proactive with new technologies and present findings to the team.


The ideal candidate has a bachelor's degree, or equivalent professional background, with a minimum of three years of experience in professional or healthcare setting. Experience working with HTML Code (or other web editing software) as well as Umbraco is required.


To succeed in this role, one must have exceptional written communication skills, with a keen attention to detail and the ability to interface will all levels of staff. They must also have the ability to work independently and within a team. An individual with strong organizational skills will flourish in this role.


This role requires an on-site office presence at least two days per week. ABIM offices are located in the historic section of Philadelphia, 510 Walnut Street, Suite 1700.
